A Head Over Heels Blog Series by Josey Stafford

You may have heard of Bridal Aisle before, because maybe you bought a bridesmaid dress (or even a prom dress) from them. But things are changing! A new focus on off the rack dresses is sure to please your budget, without compromising your vision.

It’s not a warehouse, but they are a bit bigger than a boutique. That means lots of dresses, straight off the rack, and some are brand spankin’ new. How is this possible? The dresses are from a previous season, therefore designers allow them to get marked down, sometimes 40 or 60% of the retail price! That means dollars that can be divvied up elsewhere in your wedding plans.

Did you know Bridal Aisle partners with Gather and Gown for brand new bridesmaids dresses? LOTS of options, colors, cuts, and, best of all, happy bridesmaids. Bridal Aisle also works closely with Jen Mar and Amazing Alterations, which means it’s okay if the dress you fall in love with has a few fit issues, or in my case, length issues.

How to prepare for your wedding dress shopping:

  1. Bring a strapless bra, they have some on hand but yours will fit better, or you can go topless, if you feel daring!
  2. Draw inspiration from Pinterest but be realistic. That seems like an impossible sentence, but heed my advice. Have a few dresses that you like and want something similar to, but don’t ignore other options.
  3. Ask 5 or less people to come with you. This might mean drawing straws. Siblings, moms, aunts, grandmas. Ask them to give their opinion in a soft way, think a compliment sandwich, that way you leave the store still liking each other.
  4. Go for the cry. When mom tears up and you do too, you’ll know that’s it, that’s the dress you should get married in.
